Grading records

All records are in mint or excellent condition, unless stated clearly differently and will be checked before sending. We like to do business but only if you too are satisfied. However, if we made an obvious mistake about the quality, you can send the record back to us and we’ll refund your money.

 

RECORD:

M (Mint): record is in perfect condition, shiny no marks on vinyl, like new.
NM (Near Mint): Record in beautiful shape but has one or two very small surface marks that don’t affect play.
EX (Excellent): very few light surface marks that don’t affect play.
VG+ (Very Good Plus): light surface marks, has hardly effect on play, though not disturbing. Close to like new with only superficial signs of use . Only well cared for ____records will grade out to VG+. Will satisfy all but the most demanding collector.
VG (Very Good): a used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still ____quite nice.
VG- (Very Good Minus): significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise. We don’t sell.
G+ (Good Plus). In the record world, ‘Good’ is not good! We don’t sell.

 

COVER:
S (Sealed): Cover/Record still sealed.
M (Mint): Cover is in perfect condition, no marks, like new.
NM (Near Mint): Cover in beautiful shape, might have minor cut, very light cover wear or very small signs of use. Cover looks like new and has no cover wear, writings ____on cover, bent corners or split seams.
EX (Excellent): very light cover wear or small cut mark/corner.
VG+ (Very Good Plus): light cover wear or small split seam or small cutout hole.
VG (Very Good): heavy cover wear or heavy split seam or big cutout hole or big cut corner.
VG- (Very Good Minus): significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise. We don’t sell.
G+ (Good Plus). In the record world, ‘Good’ is not good! We don’t sell.
